Clients using their insurance pay an estimated deductible and copay over the course of the pregnancy and the balance is received from the insurance company after the birth. The total bill will vary from client to client somewhat depending on when care begins, whether birth occurs at home or at the birth center, etc.
For those without insurance we have 2 options: $3,500 if I am their primary midwife or $3,000 if Emily is their primary midwife.
Please budget $500 extra if you are an uninsured VBAC client.
Uninsured clients pay a minimum of $300 at the first prenatal appointment and their balance is paid in monthly installments, finishing by one month before the baby’s due date. Alternate financial arrangements would need to be negotiated before care begins.
All clients receive the following:
* All prenatal visits (including one at your home if planning a home birth)
* Standard prenatal lab work up
* Group childbirth preparation class, including breast feeding education
* Labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum care at birth center or your home (including two qualified assistants)
* Newborn exam
* Breastfeeding help as needed
* A home visit for you and your newborn baby two days postpartum, including first newborn screen test for baby
* A two-week postpartum check up at the birth center for you and your baby and the second newborn screen test for baby
* A six-week postpartum check up at the birth center for you and your baby, including family planning counseling if desired
* A twelve-week postpartum check up at the birth center for you and your baby and a PAP smear test for you.
The following items are additional for uninsured clients. Insured clients may or may not have them covered on their plan.
* Sonograms (available for $120 cash, check, or charge at the birth center and several other Metroplex locations as needed or wanted)
* Additional blood tests for Rh- clients and RhoGAM if needed
* Non-standard lab work
* $275 extra for home birth (includes a special kit of supplies)
* $200 extra to rent our Aquadoula tub for home waterbirth if desired
* $300 extra to rent our SofTub (just like the one at the birth center) for home waterbirth if desired
* Circumcision (only if desired)
* Diaphragm or cervical cap, if desired, for family planning
* Doctor or hospital fees if the need for consultation or transport arises
