How do I practice?

In November, 2007, I made a big step in faith and opened a new birth center in Parker County, west of Fort Worth.  At the time my motivation was mostly to help my daughter and to be near my granddaughter.  However, I soon discovered that I loved having my own birth center and I loved living outside of the city.

My practice style is the same as it was in Grand Prairie.  The reputation that was built of lovingly and skillfully serving all those needing extra time and attention continues. This means that I care for women desiring a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), those who have been traumatized by previous birth experiences, women who have been abandoned once they became pregnant, non-English speaking clientele (I am fluent in Spanish and work with translators for other foreign languages), etc.  Of course I delight in serving uncomplicated women as well!

I have a particular appreciation for waterbirth and attract clients from near and far – Puerto Rico, The Virgin Islands, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, far away parts of Texas, and all around the D/FW Metroplex.

I am what is considered a “hands on” midwife.  This means that I naturally lean towards touch and focus for my labor support style.  If I see a client struggling in any way with labor I immediately work to find a way to soothe her – physically and/or mentally and/or spiritually.  My apprentices are “wired” this way also and we make a great team.

There is rarely a wait for your appointments to begin and they usually run an hour long.  All of us working here enjoy packing in as much information and relationship building as we can into your appointments.  The prenatal course is designed to prepare you for the best possible birth experience and for us to know and appreciate each other so well that labor and birth are customized and very personal.  My motto “A Midwife Is Your Friend For Life” was built on this foundation.

I am happy to provide excellent references.

My work choices mean that I expend huge amounts of energy compared to many other midwives. This would be impossible were it not for the fact that midwifery is my heart’s desire. Of course it helps that I don’t have dependent children or a husband that draw me away from my work. The joy I experience is equal to my energy invested!

I am excited to expand my circle of clients and to bring quality maternity care to the previously underserved area west of Tarrant County.  My practice has grown quickly as word got out that there is now local midwifery care.  No more need to travel into the city for appointments or having to “sweet talk” a midwife to come out this way for a home birth.

Please feel free to call and schedule a free get-to-know-each other visit.
